Are CCMAs the same as CNAs or RMAs?
No, they are different roles with unique responsibilities and certification paths.
- A CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant) is trained in both clinical and administrative tasks and typically works in outpatient and medical office settings.
- A CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) provides hands-on patient care under the supervision of nursing staff, often in long-term care or hospital environments.
- An RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) performs similar duties to a CCMA but is certified through a different credentialing organization.
If you’re pursuing medical assistant certification in Florida, it’s important to understand the distinctions between these credentials. CCMAs are a common pathway for students looking to work in fast-paced healthcare settings with a broad scope of responsibilities.
